Do you realise how wonderful it is to be a human? You might have been a horse or a tree but instead you’re an awesome human! And human beings are made up of three aspects, the:
- Spirit – your Soul or True Self
- Mind – thoughts, feelings, emotions which manifest through your words and deeds
- Body – the physical self, your environment
However, the Spirit comes first because it’s the most important aspect. It houses your Soul or True Self, the part of you which is connected to a higher source of unlimited love, wisdom and Power.
It follows then that once you learn to tune into your True Self, magic happens.
Indeed, guidance is available every minute of the day, though it can be difficult to hear because the mind is such a busy place. This is why people pray, do yoga, practice mindfulness, or meditation. To quieten the noise within so that the guidance might be heard.
Like an ever flowing stream, guidance comes and you can choose to follow or ignore it.
Most of the time it’s a matter of learning to ignore your negative self talk first in order to hear anything.
But this morning I heard it and I followed!
I went with the flow
Time for another blog I thought as I picked up the pen and began to write. I found myself not thinking as such, just allowing the words to flow spontaneously onto the page.
I could feel my mind (my thinking) wanting to interrupt, so I stopped and waited till it passed before continuing. The result is this article.
To be honest, this doesn’t happen often. Normally when I write. I plunge headlong into writing and editing at the same time, which takes hours, all the while questioning what’s showing up in front of me.
However, I knew I was receiving direction from a higher plane than my mind so I kept writing.
I was mindful that I was the pipe, not the well.
In hindsight my best writing happens when I become the receptacle and not the originator of the thoughts.
You can rely on your guidance
Call it synchronicity but stories about tuning in to the True Self have been crossing my path all week, culminating in a text conversation this morning with a friend who’s . . . learning to follow her inner guidance!
Whatever you call it, guidance, intuition, your inner GPS, this wisdom lies within and is available every moment of the day when you tune into your True Self.
Over time you come to understand it and to rely on it. To have experiences in following what you hear, and experience is by far the best teacher.
You realise that things flow naturally of their own accord without our interference.
Learn to ignore the thoughts telling you it’s nonsense, and trust in the process.
Start with something simple
Say cooking’s your thing. Offer a prayer or intention to the universe asking for guidance or direction.
Try a new recipe. Something new you want to try but you’ve been hesitating for one reason or another.
The whole point of the exercise is to ask for guidance and then follow what your hear. And expect to hear it!
Thoughts such as “This is stupid” or “This won’t work” will come up, they always do! Ignore them. To experience guidance you need to get still, and in the stillness you will hear.
It’s a practice so just start from where you are now and go with what feels right to you. And remember . . .
