I was reflecting on the state of our world the other day, and it occurred to me that if I had three wishes for the future that could bring about change, the first one would be for peace in the world.
Not that I have a desire to sound like Miss Congeniality or anything, but seems to me that’s a good place to start.
Imagine a world with no war. People living in harmony with their neighbours.
Sharing wisdom and knowledge, skills and abilities with each other, creating a rich tapestry of humanity based on love, mutual understanding and respect.
What a wonderful world it could be!
I thought a bit more about this and realised that’s only going to happen when we make peace within ourselves.
Which brings me to the second wish . . . that we learn to love ourselves, for without self love it’s very difficult to love others.
If I can’t love me, I’ve got nothing for you.
On the other hand, when I start loving and trusting myself I see you in a different light. I have love and compassion for your pain and I begin to treat you with more love, respect and dignity.
It comes as naturally as water from a well.
But I think that wish number three is the most important of all the wishes. Indeed, experience is teaching me that this may be the catalyst for the successful completion of the other two.
This wish is that we learn to connect with our inner Power and wisdom. I’m learning that it’s the same Power which created the universe, grows the plants and trees, and controls the ebb and flow of the tides.
It resides within (in our Soul) and without (in others and in nature). And it’s a Power that is unconditional love!
So you see, taken together, if these wishes came true, we could change the course of our humanity in wonderful ways.
And we might just secure a peaceful and harmonious future for those generations yet to come.
