Understanding your inner guidance

Inner guidance is personal for each of us.

Some people refer to it as intuition, others inspiration or instinct, and still others their inner GPS.

Whatever you call it, guidance is experienced as something real and powerful, influencing your mind (thoughts), and body (environment) in a positive way.

Where does guidance come from?

To my understanding, the human being consists of a Spirit, Mind and Body which are linked to each other. The Spirit however, is the main or core aspect.

Inner guidance originates from this spiritual aspect which is connected to a higher Power. Call it God, Source, Spirit of the Universe, it doesn’t matter. Regardless of what it’s called, it works.

What does guidance look like?

Guidance shows up as a small inner voice encouraging, empowering, and providing me with some form of direction or answer.

For instance, it may come in the form of a rebuke telling me I owe an apology to someone or that I need to change my behaviour.

At other times I receive guidance I wasn’t looking for.

An example of this was when I left the house recently. I was lost in thoughts of what a lovely the day, when I heard a clear voice within saying “You don’t have the keys to …”

Now, I wasn’t thinking “Have I forgotten anything?” or “Do I have the keys?” I wasn’t even thinking about where I was going, I was just enjoying the moment.

As it turned out, I’d forgotten the keys but I didn’t know till then! I would’ve reached my destination and had to return home.

This guidance came to me without my asking for it, without my looking for it.

This is my favourite kind of guidance. It shows me that I’m connected to something bigger, a Power greater than Deb, and that I’m cared for.

Through learning to trust and follow your inner guidance, you’ll discover a new approach to life which works!

The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or what you will, and the solution comes to you and you don’t know how or why.    Albert Einstein.
